Madison + Justin | The Colony Club Detroit
Madison and Justin’s Colony Club Detroit wedding was formal, colorful, and beautifully put together. Their black-tie dress code encouraged color, which gave the entire day a little more personality while still fitting the history and elegance of the venue.
They both got ready at The Godfrey before heading downtown to the Colony Club, where we spent the afternoon photographing their first look, portraits, and wedding party before the ceremony.
The Colony Club gave the day such a strong backdrop on its own, so the design never needed to compete with the space. Florals by Tried Stone Designs, stationery by Sincerely Enza, and music from the Rondo String Quartet all added to the setting in a way that felt thoughtful and cohesive.
After the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour while we finished family photographs and gave Madison and Justin a few minutes to themselves before the reception.
The evening continued with dinner, speeches, dancing, and a quick round of sunset portraits outside the Colony Club. Those street portraits were one of my favorite changes of pace during the day—the formality of the wedding against downtown Detroit gave the photographs a completely different feel.
Madison and Justin created a wedding that felt elevated but still full of personality. The venue, fashion, color, and details were all beautifully considered, but the day never felt like it was trying too hard. It was simply a really good Detroit wedding to photograph.
